Overview

The role involves serving as a Senior Software Engineer on the Elasticsearch team, focusing on enhancing the shared platform functionalities to be user-friendly, high-performing, maintainable, and secure.

Key Responsibilities

• Contributing to significant projects that enhance Elasticsearch's core infrastructure.
• Identifying automation opportunities to improve developer productivity.
• Designing and implementing new features and APIs in Elasticsearch.
• Troubleshooting complex performance and concurrency issues.
• Improving observability of Elasticsearch cloud systems.
• Collaborating with the Elasticsearch team, users, and open-source projects.
• Assisting support engineers with challenging problems.
• Managing operational investigations until issues are resolved.

Requirements

• Experience in crafting APIs with an understanding of trade-offs.
• Proficiency in algorithms and data structures.
• Strong core Java skills, familiar with data structures and concurrency constructs.
• Experience with low-level Java, including concurrency and classloaders.
• Hands-on with CI/CD systems (Buildkite, Argo CD, GitOps).
• Experience leading large-scale projects across engineering teams.
• Ability to own project design and collaboration with others.
• Proven track record of using AI for development acceleration and debugging.
• Capable of effective cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to work autonomously and drive results in a distributed team environment.
