Overview

Elastic is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Elasticsearch - Distributed Systems team, focusing on scale, performance, and resilience within their Serverless offering.

Key Responsibilities

• Leverage expertise in distributed systems to build and operate components of the next-generation Serverless Elasticsearch offering.
• Improve components supporting concurrent and consistent indexing across multiple machines.
• Maintain cluster coordination systems to ensure high performance during node changes and data movement.
• Address performance or concurrency issues and propose solutions.
• Support engineers with complex problem-solving.
• Own operational investigations from start to finish until issues are resolved.

Requirements

• Deep background in distributed systems and consensus algorithms.
• Strong skills in core Java with familiarity in data structures and concurrency constructs.
• Technical proficiency in algorithms.
• Ability to work on complex, highly distributed systems.
• Experience building and debugging impactful features across multiple machines.
• Able to manage projects from inception to completion.
• Proven track record in using AI for development and debugging.
• Strong collaboration skills to work across functions and teams.
• Autonomous with effective communication skills in a distributed team.
