Overview

Elastic, the Search AI Company, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their Elasticsearch - Distributed Systems team. This role focuses on tackling distributed systems challenges, enhancing the performance and resilience of the Elasticsearch platform, particularly in the context of their Serverless offering.

Key Responsibilities

• Leverage expertise in distributed systems to build and operate core components of the Serverless Elasticsearch offering, impacting customer experience.
• Improve components supporting concurrent and consistent indexing across multiple machines.
• Maintain the cluster coordination system to ensure high performance as nodes come and go.
• Pursue solutions for performance or concurrency issues.
• Support engineering teams with complex problems.
• Own operational investigations end-to-end until performance and stability issues are resolved.

Requirements

• Deep background in distributed systems and consensus algorithms.
• Strong skills in core Java and familiarity with data structures and concurrency constructs.
• Technical proficiency in algorithms and complex, highly distributed systems.
• Ability to build and debug features that have a wide impact across multiple machines.
• Proven track record of using AI to accelerate development and optimize code.
• Capability to collaborate across functions and seamlessly transition between projects.
• Ability to work autonomously and drive decisions in a distributed team environment.
