Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Digital Twin Platform @Instacart

Overview

The Digital Twin Platform team at Instacart is focused on understanding what is on store shelves at all times, enhancing grocery store operations across North America. The team drives the shelf data supply chain by collecting data from retail partners and developing models that integrate into live products.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models for real-time inventory understanding across retail locations.
• Own the full ML lifecycle from problem framing to production deployment with a focus on quality and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers and data scientists, to drive product innovation.
• Contribute to building and evolving the core infrastructure of the Digital Twin Platform.
• Define the technical direction of an expanding modeling practice in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in developing and deploying machine learning models in production.
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Experience with large-scale data pipelines and both structured and unstructured data.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in computer vision, inventory forecasting, or demand sensing.
• Familiarity with real-time inference systems.
• Prior experience in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
• Exposure to retail, supply chain, or e-commerce domains.
• Experience collaborating with computer vision teams.
