Senior Platform Engineer @MongoDB

Overview

The Infrastructure Engineering team at MongoDB is responsible for building and maintaining a self-service internal development platform that enables engineering teams to reliably deploy and operate their production services and products. They collaborate with various teams to understand infrastructure requirements, develop self-service platform services, and continuously improve developer productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with engineering teams to investigate gaps in development workflows and understand new infrastructure and platform requirements.
• Design self-service platform services and developer tooling focused on reliability and usability.
• Regularly write and review automation, configuration management, and application code.
• Author and review functional specifications and scoping documents for large platform projects.
• Own and operate the internal development platform.
• Collaborate with remote engineers across multiple time zones.

Requirements

• Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in cloud providers, preferably AWS.
• Strong backend programming skills, with fluency in Go strongly preferred.
• Experience working with AI coding agents.
• Experience designing and implementing medium-to-large software projects, including mentoring less-senior engineers.
• Strong experience operating production Kubernetes clusters and defining SLI/SLOs.
• Familiarity with observability tooling (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
• Strong Linux and TCP/IP networking skills.
• Familiarity with standard authentication protocols (OAuth, OIDC) and CI/CD workflows.
