Overview
The Elastic Security Endpoint Protections team is seeking a Senior Security Research Engineer to lead efforts in building visibility and prevention capabilities within Elastic Defend, their endpoint and SIEM security solution. This role involves collaborating with a skilled team to secure users against emerging threats.
Key Responsibilities
- Research emerging attacker techniques and develop protections against them.
- Build and enhance endpoint visibility across Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Write performance-oriented C/C++ code that operates on millions of endpoints.
- Reverse engineer malware to understand how security can be bypassed.
- Review customer telemetry and establish mitigation strategies for false positives.
- Ensure protection parity across platforms and assist in driving the technical direction of the team.
- Publish and present research findings on Elastic Security Labs and at conferences.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience analyzing attacker tactics and building detection methods.
- 6+ years of development experience in C, C++, and Python.
- Strong knowledge of operating system internals, particularly Windows.
- Experience with reverse engineering and malware analysis.
- An adversarial mindset with a collaborative approach.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a distributed team.
- Passion for data protection and security research.
