Overview
The role involves working as a Senior Security Research Engineer at Elastic, focusing on building innovative features to secure users against emerging threats. The position is part of the Elastic Security Endpoint Protections team, which seeks to enhance endpoint and SIEM security solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Research emerging attacker techniques to develop effective protections.
- Build and enhance endpoint visibility by instrumenting new event sources across various operating systems.
- Develop production code that is stable and performant in a security-critical environment.
- Conduct reverse engineering of malware to improve protection measures.
- Review customer telemetry to identify and address false positives and performance issues.
- Ensure protection parity across different platforms.
- Collaborate with colleagues in multiple time zones and roles within the Elastic Security team.
- Lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers.
- Publish research and present findings at conferences.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in analyzing attacker tactics and building detection methods.
- 6+ years of development experience in C, C++, and Python.
- Deep knowledge of operating system internals.
- In-depth experience with reverse engineering and malware analysis.
- Strong understanding of security resilience against evasion techniques.
- Experience with AI in development and debugging.
- Ability to work autonomously in a distributed team.
