Senior Site Reliability Engineer - Platform Reliability (Resilience) @Elastic

Overview

The role involves working as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer in the Platform Engineering department, focusing on designing, building, and scaling a multi-cloud platform for hosting Elastic’s internal and external services.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical initiatives for automating system engineering efforts to ensure the reliability of the global Elastic infrastructure.
• Grow the global Platform infrastructure to meet increasing scaling demands through software, tooling, and automation development.
• Champion a collaborative environment centered on operational excellence.
• Respond to major incidents and manage prioritized problem management with a follow-the-sun on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Experience in prioritizing progress in platform reliability and a customer-first approach to operational problem-solving from an SRE perspective.
• Background in software engineering and experience in public cloud and managed Kubernetes services is beneficial.
• Ability to communicate inclusively to strengthen partnerships and team relationships in a distributed team setting.

Bonus Points

• Experience operating a SaaS product in a public cloud using Infrastructure-as-Code tooling like Crossplane or Terraform.
• Experience operating Kubernetes infrastructure at scale across multiple cloud providers.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Golang and experience with containerized services like Docker.
• Proven experience in incident management processes and metrics systems (e.g., Elastic Stack, Graphite, Prometheus).
• System administration experience in Linux on distributed systems at scale.
• Experience in diagnosing or designing solutions with the Elastic Stack.
• Experience thriving in a self-organizing, globally distributed team environment.
• Ability to uplift team members through coaching and mentoring.
