Key Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives within Elasticsearch to create an industry-leading search engine offering.
• Build new search features and resolve bugs while enhancing code clarity.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed team on the vector search capabilities of Elasticsearch.
• Identify and drive improvements in Elasticsearch search relevance.
• Engage with community members on issues and pull requests.
• Write idiomatic modern Java, as Elasticsearch is 99.8% Java.

Requirements

• Professional experience with search or vector databases and relevant algorithms.
• Solid skills in core Java and familiarity with the standard library.
• Ability to work autonomously on projects from start to finish.
• Experience in collaborative development and feedback processes.
• Knowledge of several data storage technologies like Elasticsearch and PostgreSQL.
• Track record of using AI for development and debugging.
• Strong collaboration abilities across functions.
