Overview

Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch - Storage Engine team. This globally distributed, fully remote team develops core storage and query technologies for observability workloads.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural evolution of core storage engine components, addressing performance bottlenecks.
• Drive initiatives for industry-leading observability solutions.
• Collaborate with a team focused on the logs and metrics capabilities of Elasticsearch.
• Introduce best practices for clean coding standards and improve system behaviors.
• Act as a subject matter expert (SME) and mentor within the engineering organization.
• Work with the global community to triage, resolve, and review issues and pull requests.
• Write idiomatic modern Java.

Requirements

• Ability to collaborate across functions and projects.
• Experience with AI in development, debugging, and code optimization.
• Knowledge of efficient techniques for indexing, storing, and querying data.
• Familiarity with data storage technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Prometheus.
• Strong core Java skills with a focus on concurrency and data structure design.
• Excellent communication skills and respect for collaboration in a distributed team environment.
