Overview

The Senior Software Engineer role at Neo4j focuses on building the core intelligence of GraphAware Hume, a graph-powered analytics platform. This remote position primarily targets candidates in the UK, Czechia, or Italy.

Key Responsibilities

• Building APIs for intuitive user interaction with complex data.
• Designing secure, scalable access control systems for mission-critical environments.
• Orchestrating workflows to automate graph analytics, inference, and real-time insights.
• Optimizing application performance and collaborating with other engineers to ensure seamless user experiences.
• Contributing to architecture and technical design with the team.

Requirements

• Proven experience in backend systems (8+ years) with exposure to large-scale, complex applications and cross-functional teams.
• Fluency in Java with knowledge of modern software engineering principles like Clean Architecture, Domain-Driven Design, and Test-Driven Development.
• Experience with Spring or similar frameworks, emphasizing secure, modular, and scalable APIs.
• Knowledge of designing data models, especially relational (e.g., PostgreSQL) and graph-based.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and automated deployment workflows.
• Strong security mindset with knowledge of secure software design principles and common vulnerabilities.
• Comfort with remote team collaboration tools and practices.
• Bonus: Familiarity with graph technologies (Cypher, Neo4j), event-driven architectures (Kafka), and cloud-native development.
