Senior Software Engineer, Marketing Enablement & Technology @Instacart

Overview

The Marketing Enablement & Technology (MET) team at Instacart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect and scale backend services and ETL processes for marketing campaign execution and third-party integrations. This role operates at the intersection of Marketing, Product, and Engineering within a remote-first environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead projects independently across backend services, APIs, and data pipelines, defining strategies for experimentation, development, and rollout.
• Architect scalable and robust solutions focusing on performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Drive technical improvements by identifying underlying problems and designing reusable code abstractions.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Product stakeholders to influence features and requirements based on technical expertise.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, guidance, and onboarding while improving team productivity.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of software engineering experience, with expertise in Python for backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Track record of independently leading projects from architecture design to production rollout.
• Expertise in data integration (Snowflake, SQL, ETL processes) and workflow orchestration (Airflow, DBT).
• Ability to design for performance and scalability, implementing observability solutions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to mentor engineers and drive cross-team alignment.
