Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch - Search Relevance team. This globally-distributed team focuses on delivering a robust and feature-rich search experience, contributing to improving search capabilities, including design and implementation of new features and enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives to produce an industry-leading search engine offering.
• Contribute full time to Elasticsearch by building new search features and fixing bugs.
• Work on vector search capabilities with a globally distributed team.
• Identify and drive improvements in search relevance.
• Collaborate with community members on issues and pull requests.
• Write idiomatic modern Java code, as Elasticsearch is predominantly Java-based.

Requirements

• Professional experience with search or vector databases and relevant algorithms.
• Solid skills in core Java and familiarity with standard data structures and concurrency constructs.
• Ability to work autonomously and guide projects from start to finish.
• Proficiency in collaborative development and feedback processes.
• Experience with various data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
• Proven track record of using AI to enhance development and optimize code.
• Collaborative skills across functions and teams.
• Ability to drive decisions and results in a distributed team environment.
