Senior Software Engineer, Server Security @MongoDB

Overview

MongoDB is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Server Security team, a development-focused group within the core engineering organization. The team builds features that enable database users to secure their data globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and test new security features in a large, feature-rich C++ codebase.
• Collaborate with engineering, cloud services, and support teams to coordinate feature rollouts and changes.
• Advocate for code quality and security best practices while assisting fellow engineers in writing secure code.
• Utilize strong diagnostic intuition to resolve complex technical issues related to distributed systems, concurrency, and OS internals.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building distributed systems.
• Proficiency in a compiled language (C++, Rust, Go, Java, or similar).
• Ability to reason about design choices and their impact on distributed systems.
• Understanding of modern computer architecture and the implications of design choices in systems like MongoDB.
• Degree in Computer Science or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design/architecture.
• Excellent communication skills to synthesize complex technical implications for diverse stakeholders.

Location

This role can be remote or hybrid anywhere in the USA or Canada. Candidates located in these countries will be prioritized.
