Overview

The role is for a Senior Software Engineer in the Elasticsearch - Storage Engine team at Elastic, a company focused on helping organizations harness the power of search and AI. This position is remote and involves working with a globally distributed team on core storage and query technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural evolution of core storage engine components and identify performance bottlenecks.
• Drive cross-organizational initiatives to develop industry-leading observability solutions.
• Work collaboratively with a distributed team on logs and metrics capabilities.
• Implement best practices for clean coding standards and system improvements.
• Act as a subject matter expert and mentor to the engineering organization.
• Triage, resolve, and review issues and pull requests with the global community.
• Write idiomatic modern Java code.

Requirements

• Ability to collaborate across functions and transition between projects and teams.
• Experience driving decisions and results in a distributed team.
• Proven track record of using AI to optimize development and debug complex systems.
• Knowledge of techniques to efficiently index, store, and query data.
• Experience with data storage technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
• Strong Java skills and understanding of concurrency and data structures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
