Overview

Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch - Storage Engine team. This role involves developing core storage and query technologies for observability workloads as part of a globally distributed, fully remote team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural evolution of core storage engine components, resolving performance bottlenecks in indexing layouts and resource utilization.
• Drive cross-organizational initiatives to build industry-leading observability solutions.
• Collaborate with a distributed team focused on Elasticsearch's logs and metrics capabilities.
• Introduce best practices for clean coding standards and improve system architectures.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in Elasticsearch and mentor other engineers.
• Collaborate with the global community to resolve issues and review contributions.
• Write idiomatic modern Java code, as Elasticsearch is predominantly Java-based.

Requirements

• Ability to collaborate across functions and teams, transitioning between projects based on business needs.
• Proven record of utilizing AI to enhance development and optimize code.
• Experience with indexing, storing, and querying time-series or logs data.
• Familiarity with data storage technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Prometheus.
• Strong core Java programming skills with a deep understanding of concurrency and data structures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a distributed team setting.
