Overview

The role involves joining the Elasticsearch - Storage Engine team at Elastic, a company enabling real-time data access and AI integration. This fully remote team focuses on core storage and query technologies for observability workloads.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural evolution of core storage engine components, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
• Drive and build industry-leading observability solutions across organizations.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed team on Elasticsearch's logs and metrics capabilities.
• Introduce best practices for clean coding standards and improve system architecture clarity.
• Act as a subject matter expert (SME) and mentor within the engineering organization.
• Collaborate globally to triage, resolve, and review issues and pull requests.
• Write idiomatic modern Java code.

Requirements

• Ability to collaborate and transition between different projects and teams.
• Experience with AI to enhance development and optimize code.
• Knowledge of efficient indexing, storage, and querying of time-series or logs data.
• Experience with data storage technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Prometheus.
• Strong core Java skills and understanding of concurrency primitives.
• Excellent communication skills in a distributed environment.
