Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives to enhance the search engine capabilities, ensuring speed and relevance.
• Build new search features and resolve bugs in Elasticsearch.
• Work with a global team on vector search capabilities.
• Become an expert in Elasticsearch search relevance, driving improvements based on observations.
• Engage with community members on issues and pull requests.
• Write idiomatic modern Java, as Elasticsearch is predominantly Java-based.

Requirements

• Experience in implementing vector similarity techniques and knowledge of search platforms.
• Professional experience with search or vector databases, including familiarity with algorithms like HNSW and IVF.
• Strong skills in core Java and understanding of data structures and concurrency.
• Ability to work autonomously on projects from start to finish.
• Experience in collaborative development and providing feedback on code.
• Knowledge of data storage technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
• Proven ability to use AI for development and debugging complex systems.
• Capability to collaborate across functions and transition between projects as needed.
