Senior Staff Software Developer, Core Infrastructure @Robinhood

Overview

The role involves working as a Senior Staff Software Developer on the Core Infrastructure team at Robinhood, based in Toronto, Canada. The team focuses on building foundational platforms that support Robinhood's engineering efforts in 24/7 trading, crypto, and global expansion.

Key Responsibilities

• Own service mesh architecture end-to-end, standardizing and evolving Robinhood's Istio and Envoy deployment.
• Drive the evolution of the Kubernetes compute platform, setting long-term directions for cluster lifecycle and multi-region resiliency.
• Redesign infrastructure provisioning, transforming Terraform configurations into a scalable platform capability.
• Diagnose and resolve issues at the Kubernetes API level and related technologies.
• Produce architecture proposals and lead design reviews for cross-functional infrastructure decisions.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in Kubernetes internals and related technologies.
• Working knowledge of Istio and/or Envoy, including debugging at the control-plane/data-plane boundary.
• HTTP/2 and gRPC knowledge related to connection management and observability.
• Experience with Terraform at architectural scale.
• Proficiency in Go or Python for infrastructure tooling.
• Ability to influence cross-functional architectural changes within large engineering organizations.

Location
