Key Responsibilities

• Own service mesh architecture end-to-end, standardizing and evolving Robinhood's Istio and Envoy deployment.
• Drive Kubernetes compute platform evolution, defining direction for cluster lifecycle and multi-region resiliency.
• Redesign infrastructure provisioning to enable rapid region provisioning and developer autonomy.
• Diagnose and resolve issues at the Kubernetes API machinery and contribute upstream.
• Produce architecture proposals and lead design reviews, aligning cross-functional teams on infrastructure decisions.

Requirements

• Deep expertise with Kubernetes internals.
• Hands-on knowledge of Istio and/or Envoy at the source code level.
• Understanding of HTTP/2 and gRPC.
• Experience with Terraform at architectural scale.
• Proficiency in Go or Python for infrastructure tooling.
• Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional architectural change.
