Senior Strategic Finance Manager, Retailer @Instacart

The Senior Strategic Finance Manager for Retailer will be a crucial part of the Strategic Finance team, focusing on expanding and deepening relationships with grocers and retailers across North America.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead financial strategy for retailer deal flow, shaping pricing philosophy and driving decision-making across retailer partnerships.
• Develop decision frameworks and build robust financial models.
• Advise senior leaders during high-stakes negotiations that impact revenue and margins.
• Establish financial modeling standards for retailer partnerships and define pricing philosophy and deal guardrails.
• Create and maintain partner- and portfolio-level P&Ls and forecasts with clear KPIs.
• Implement scalable deal desk processes and self-serve dashboards for investment decisions.
• Elevate team performance by enhancing modeling rigor and business judgment.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in strategic finance, corporate finance, investment banking, private equity, or management consulting.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in managing complex commercial agreements and negotiations with C-suite and VP-level executives.
• Advanced financial modeling skills in Excel or Google Sheets.
• Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and unit economics.
• Excellent communication skills for conveying complex analyses to senior executives.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MBA or relevant advanced degree.
• Experience in a marketplace or consumer internet company with complex partnership structures.
• 2+ years of direct people management experience.
• Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with BI tools.
