Overview
The role of Software Engineer II - Platform Infrastructure (Orchestration) at Elastic involves building and operating services that enable engineering teams to develop, ship, and run software at scale. The position is part of the Elastic Cloud Platform team, which supports Elastic's products in the cloud.
Key Responsibilities
- Build features and components for production services.
- Take ownership of well-scoped pieces of larger projects from requirements through production.
- Propose technical solutions and bring them to working code.
- Pair with senior engineers on complex problems.
- Participate in code reviews and design discussions.
- Operate the services owned and take part in the on-call rotation.
- Investigate incidents and improve processes.
- Automate repetitive tasks through code.
- Communicate status and blockers effectively.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience writing services in Go or proficiency in another systems language with a willingness to learn Go.
- Understanding of Kubernetes fundamentals.
- Familiarity with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Curiosity about distributed systems.
- Ability to work through ambiguity with support from experienced engineers.
- Collaborative approach with clear communication in a distributed setting.
