Sr. Software Engineer (Backend) @Pendo

Overview

The role involves working on the Core team at Pendo, which builds critical features and capabilities for the product experience. As a Sr. Software Engineer, the individual will independently manage complex problem areas, apply engineering judgment, and collaborate closely with Product and Design.

Key Responsibilities

• Own complex, ambiguous features end-to-end, structuring work into small, independently shippable increments.
• Write production-ready code and define testing approaches based on risk and system impact.
• Respond to production issues quickly, resolving them and implementing preventative measures.
• Utilize AI tools for core development tasks such as code generation and debugging.
• Deliver actionable code reviews and effective documentation.
• Identify and improve recurring friction points in processes or tools.
• Provide context and documentation to aid team collaboration and understanding.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer with a track record in delivering SaaS product features.
• Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages (Go, Java, Python, C++).
• Understanding of scalable web architecture, API design, and performance optimization.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with safe deployment patterns including feature flags.
• Active use of AI tools in the software development workflow.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Location

This position is based in Raleigh, NC, with a hybrid work culture requiring in-office presence 3 days per week unless designated remote.
