Overview

The role of Staff Data Scientist at Pinterest focuses on developing measurement frameworks and refining data-driven decision-making processes within the Notifications team. Key Responsibilities

• Develop measurement frameworks and metrics for data-driven decision-making, focusing on user journey optimization.
• Communicate actionable insights to product and engineering leadership to refine the Notifications strategy.
• Act as a thought partner to prioritize and scope projects related to notifications.
• Improve machine learning models for notification delivery and content through new features and analyses.
• Mentor other data scientists, ensuring high-quality outputs.

Requirements

• 8+ years of combined academic and industry experience with scientific methods on web-scale data.
• Strong foundation in statistics, machine learning, and experimentation.
• Expertise in at least one scripting language (Python/R) and proficiency in SQL/Hive.
• Excellent communication skills and business sense for defining analyses that guide decisions.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and leading technical projects.
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Benefits

• Base salary range: $164,695 — $339,078 USD.
• Eligible for equity based on various factors.

Location

This role is remote, US-based, with occasional in-office collaboration required 1-2 times per quarter.
