Overview
Pinterest is seeking a Staff Motion Designer to join the Design Innovation team. The role involves defining and evolving the motion design language to enhance user experience across Pinterest’s products. This position combines motion design expertise with collaboration across teams, focusing on creating a cohesive and compelling interaction experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and evolve Pinterest’s motion design language, ensuring clarity and coherence across the product ecosystem.
- Lead motion direction for flagship and AI-forward experiences.
- Collaborate with product designers, engineers, and product managers to align motion strategies with individual feature work.
- Transition high-craft explorations into scalable design system contributions.
- Rapidly prototype and validate motion ideas across various mediums.
- Work closely with engineering to address complex animation challenges.
- Develop tools and workflows that assist designers in exploring motion ideas.
- Stay updated on AI-enabled motion tools and apply them strategically.
- Conduct motion quality reviews and mentor designers in motion principles.
- Communicate motion decisions and their impacts effectively to diverse teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in motion design, product design, or interaction design, with a strong portfolio.
- Experience influencing cross-functional teams and shaping design-system direction.
- Deep understanding of motion and interaction design principles.
- Experience creating scalable motion systems and documentation.
- Proficient in collaborating with engineers on complex motion implementations.
- Familiarity with prototyping tools, AI, and technical workflows.
- Strong product and systems thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
- A collaborative mindset and a passion for inclusive design.
- Bachelor’s degree in design or related field, or equivalent experience.
