Overview

Pinterest is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for its Capacity Engineering team, which is responsible for managing one of the largest-scale cloud-native infrastructures worldwide. The role involves optimizing performance and efficiency in a core area of Capacity Engineering, collaborating with various teams and company leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive efficiency in large-scale shared environments like Kubernetes, focusing on scheduling optimization and resource management.
• Improve the performance and efficiency of large scale distributed systems.
• Utilize profiling and performance tooling to identify and resolve efficiency problems.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure Engineering and SRE teams to ensure a resilient and efficient tech stack.
• Leverage AI for performance investigations and build tools for efficiency insights.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Deep understanding of infrastructure capacity and performance.
• Experience with Kubernetes or large-scale shared infrastructure.
• Technical and performance engineering skills, including experience with profiling tools.
• Proficient in software development languages such as Java, Python, and C++.
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud environments.
• Ability to utilize AI to enhance workflows, with a strong track record in critical evaluation of AI-assisted work.
• Excellent communication skills for conveying complex technical issues.
