Staff Software Engineer, DevX (Developer Infrastructure) @Robinhood

Overview

Robinhood is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for its DevX team to enhance core developer infrastructure. This role involves the management of systems that thousands of engineers depend on to ensure fast and reliable development processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect the long-term technical strategy and roadmap for core developer infrastructure, ensuring systems scale reliably as engineering teams grow.
• Build and maintain robust, scalable infrastructure capable of handling increasing operational loads with a focus on speed, safety, and reliability.
• Lead the strategy for developer onboarding and remote development environments, reducing time-to-first-commit.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to standardize build and CI patterns and eliminate developer friction.
• Provide technical mentorship to engineers, conducting design reviews and establishing best-practice guidelines.

Requirements

• Extensive experience designing, scaling, and operating critical developer infrastructure or high-volume build and CI systems in production environments.
• Deep expertise in modern build systems such as Bazel and distributed or remote build execution.
• Strong programming proficiency in Go or Python.
• Proven ability to guide complex technical initiatives from conception to completion.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Location

This role is based in New York City, NY, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.
