Staff Software Engineer, Product Data Platform @Brex

Overview

Brex is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for its Product Data Platform team. This role focuses on building and operating high-performance data infrastructure critical to Brex's product experiences, including AI-powered features, while collaborating within a diverse and inclusive engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical strategy for critical Product Data Platform initiatives.
• Identify and resolve systemic performance, consistency, and scalability problems.
• Own architecture direction for query performance and design distributed systems.
• Raise the technical bar through design reviews and architecture decisions.
• Mentor senior engineers and contribute to high-stakes initiatives.
• Drive solution strategies for cross-cutting problems lacking defined charters.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with production systems.
• Experience leading architecture and delivery for large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep expertise with relational databases, particularly Postgres or Aurora.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers.
