Staff Software Engineer - Query Execution @MongoDB

Overview

MongoDB is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Query Execution team. This globally distributed team plays a crucial role in the performance and efficiency of MongoDB's data processing, focusing on the core execution engine that powers all queries.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the 12-month roadmap for Query Execution by researching state-of-the-art systems and leveraging deep knowledge of industry trends.
• Deliver on long-term goals to innovate in high-performance query execution while writing well-tested, production-ready C++ code.
• Advise management on architectural decisions and collaborate with stakeholders on large initiatives.
• Mentor and grow team members through active coaching, leading by example, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in query engine development or database internals.
• Experience with production-level code, robust design structure, and rigorous code quality.
• Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience with strong competencies in data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with large code bases in C++ or other systems programming languages.
• Proven technical leadership and ability to define and drive roadmaps.
• Passion for database query engines and relevant experience in the database domain.
