Overview

The Staff User Researcher at Instacart will contribute to the Consumer team, focusing on understanding how people change their food behaviors. This role involves leading research that guides product innovation and strategy, ensuring products are designed with deep human insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the research roadmap for the consumer innovation workstream, collaborating with various teams to identify research opportunities that shape strategy and innovation.
• Conduct foundational research to understand consumer perspectives on food, nutrition, and health, exploring motivations and behavioral triggers.
• Apply behavioral science frameworks to frame research questions and derive actionable insights.
• Execute mixed-methods research, including qualitative studies and quantitative approaches.
• Transform research findings into actionable narratives for decision-making at all organizational levels.
• Maintain an evolving understanding of consumer behaviors through knowledge bases, personas, and journey maps.
• Mentor junior researchers and contribute to the research organization's culture and standards.
• Advocate for the customer across the organization, influencing roadmap and strategy through research insights.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in UX or consumer research, particularly in early-stage innovation.
• Strong background in behavioral psychology or related fields.
• Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
• Ability to lead generative research that defines product opportunities.
• Exceptional storytelling skills to convey insights clearly.
• Experience working with data science teams to enhance research findings.
• Proficiency with AI tools for research enhancement.
• Advanced degree preferred; Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
