Overview
The United States Mission to Nigeria is recruiting for the position of Supervisory Visa Assistant at the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos. This is a full-time role based in Lagos.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise a thirteen-person locally employed staff team in the Nonimmigrant Visa Unit.
- Coordinate the processing of all nonimmigrant visa applications within the Lagos consular district.
- Oversee more than 300,000 visa cases annually.
- Manage scheduling, prescreening, intake, data entry, visa printing, and fraud screening processes.
- Directly supervise two to three team leads and indirectly supervise multiple visa assistants.
- Conduct staff evaluation, training, and onboarding.
- Ensure a diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Act as a liaison between visa staff, consular officers, and the fraud prevention unit.
- Advise on operational improvements.
Requirements
- A university degree in fields such as Business Administration, Communications, Public Administration, Sociology, or Law along with at least three years of relevant work experience, including one year in a supervisory role (Option 1).
- Alternatively, five years of relevant experience and at least two years of university education (Option 2).
- NYSC certification is required where applicable.
- Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work accurately in a high-pressure environment.
Benefits
Annual salary of USD 31,771.
