Overview
The role of Tech Lead, Backend at GraphAware Hume involves owning core parts of the platform layer of a graph-powered analytics platform. The position focuses on enhancing architecture, providing technical guidance, and optimizing backend systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive platform architecture and set technical direction for foundations utilized by feature teams.
- Own the Neo4j strategy by tracking and testing new releases and ecosystem tooling.
- Optimize Cypher queries and graph access patterns for performance.
- Mentor engineers to elevate team technical standards.
- Collaborate with Product Managers to translate product goals into technical roadmaps.
- Design secure, scalable access control systems.
- Build APIs for user interaction with complex data.
- Orchestrate workflows to automate graph analytics and insights.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in Neo4j and advanced Cypher performance optimization.
- Experience modeling real domains as property graphs.
- Track record of leading architecture and technical direction.
- Proven experience in backend systems (8+ years) with complex applications.
- Fluency in Java or strong JVM background, with knowledge of modern software engineering principles.
- Understanding of writing secure, modular, and scalable APIs.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and automated deployment workflows.
- Strong security mindset with practical knowledge of secure software design.
- Comfortable with remote team collaboration.
