    The European Commission Blue Book Traineeship Programme 2026 is a prestigious opportunity for graduates to gain practical experience within the European Union. This fully funded traineeship is offered twice a year and provides participants with valuable exposure to EU policymaking, administration, and international work environments.

    The programme runs for a duration of five months and is designed to equip young professionals with hands-on experience, professional skills, and intercultural competence. Trainees work within the European Commission, its agencies, or related bodies, including the European External Action Service. While most placements are based in Brussels, opportunities are also available in Luxembourg and other EU locations.

    The traineeship offers two main tracks: the Administrative Traineeship and the Translation Traineeship under the Directorate-General for Translation. Participants will engage in meaningful assignments, collaborate in multicultural teams, and gain insight into how EU institutions operate. Beyond professional work, trainees also participate in various social and networking activities, enhancing both personal and career development.

    The programme provides a monthly stipend of approximately €1,493, along with reimbursement for travel, visa, and medical expenses. With about 1,000 positions available per session, it is a highly competitive but rewarding opportunity for aspiring professionals.

    Eligibility Requirements

    Applicants must have completed at least a three-year higher education degree equivalent to a Bachelor’s level. They must not have more than six weeks of prior work experience within any EU institution or body.

    For the Administrative Traineeship, candidates must demonstrate strong proficiency in at least two EU official languages, including one working language such as English, French, or German. Non-EU applicants are required to have proficiency in one procedural language.

    For the Translation Traineeship, applicants must be able to translate into their main language from at least two other EU languages, with one being English, French, or German.

    Applicants are required to submit academic certificates, transcripts, and where available, a Europass Diploma Supplement.
