Women for Women International (WfWI) has opened applications for an exceptional Chief Programs & Partnerships Officer (CPPO), a senior executive leadership role that will shape the organization’s global strategy, partnerships, and program delivery.

This full-time, permanent opportunity is available to experienced international development leaders who have the legal right to work in Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, Nigeria, Iraq, the United States, Germany, or the United Kingdom.

The successful candidate will join the Executive Leadership Team and play a critical role in strengthening programs that support women survivors of war and conflict while driving strategic partnerships, institutional fundraising, and organizational growth across multiple regions.

About the Chief Programs & Partnerships Officer Role

Reporting directly to the International Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Programs & Partnerships Officer serves as the organization’s highest-ranking leader responsible for global program strategy, technical quality, business development, strategic partnerships, and evidence-based program delivery.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CPPO will ensure that Women for Women International’s programs remain aligned with its mission while maintaining high technical standards across all countries where the organization operates.

The role also ensures that organizational growth remains mission-driven rather than donor-driven by balancing fundraising opportunities with program quality, country capacity, and the real needs of women living in conflict-affected communities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership across multiple organizational functions, including:

Global Program Leadership

Responsibilities include:

• Leading the organization’s global program strategy
• Maintaining high standards of program quality across all country offices
• Driving innovation and continuous improvement
• Ensuring programs remain evidence-based and financially sustainable
• Developing global technical guidance and quality assurance systems
• Supporting localization and safeguarding initiatives

Country and Regional Oversight

The CPPO will:

• Provide executive oversight of Women for Women International’s worldwide program portfolio
• Collaborate closely with Regional Directors and Country Directors
• Guide country strategies and annual planning
• Ensure programs align with organizational priorities
• Address operational and delivery risks across multiple regions

Program Design, Learning, and Evidence

Key duties include:

• Overseeing program design and development
• Supporting Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL)
• Encouraging evidence-based decision-making
• Leading innovation in programming
• Ensuring new initiatives are practical, scalable, and responsive to local needs

Business Development and Strategic Partnerships

The CPPO will also lead institutional fundraising efforts by:

• Guiding the global business development strategy
• Building partnerships with governments, multilateral organizations, foundations, and research institutions
• Reviewing major donor proposals
• Approving significant programmatic funding opportunities
• Ensuring fundraising aligns with organizational mission and delivery capacity

Crisis Response Leadership

The role includes executive oversight of the organization’s Crisis Response Fund, supporting partnerships in conflict-affected countries where Women for Women International does not yet maintain country offices.

Who Should Apply?

Women for Women International is seeking a highly accomplished international development executive with extensive leadership experience managing complex global programs.

Applicants should possess:

• A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in international development, public policy, gender studies, social sciences, humanitarian studies, or a related field
• At least 15 years of senior leadership experience in international development, humanitarian, or nonprofit organizations
• Significant experience managing large, multi-country program portfolios
• Proven expertise in strategic planning and organizational transformation
• Strong institutional fundraising and donor engagement experience
• Demonstrated success leading geographically dispersed teams within matrix management structures
• Deep understanding of women’s rights, gender equality, peacebuilding, humanitarian response, and conflict-sensitive programming
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills

Candidates must already possess the legal right to work in one of the eligible countries, as Women for Women International does not provide visa sponsorship or relocation assistance.
