The Migration and Youth Platform (MYCP) is seeking a highly motivated Global Coordinator to lead its Secretariat and drive forward youth engagement in global migration governance.

This full-time, remote opportunity is open to applicants worldwide and offers a unique chance to work at the intersection of youth advocacy, international development, and United Nations policy processes.

About the Migration and Youth Platform (MYCP)

The Migration and Youth Platform is a self-organised global space that empowers children and young people—up to the age of 31—to actively participate in international migration policy discussions. Grounded in the principles of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, MYCP works to ensure that youth voices are not only heard but meaningfully integrated into decision-making spaces.

Since its founding in 2018, MYCP has collaborated closely with UN agencies and global partners to elevate youth perspectives in key policy frameworks such as the Global Compact for Migration and the Global Forum on Migration and Development. Through global consultations, advocacy initiatives, and partnerships, the platform continues to shape more inclusive and representative migration governance systems.

    Role Overview: MYCP Global Coordinator

The MYCP Global Coordinator plays a central leadership role within the organisation, overseeing strategic direction, daily operations, and external representation. This position is critical to ensuring the smooth functioning of the Secretariat while strengthening MYCP’s influence in global migration advocacy spaces.

The ideal candidate brings prior experience with MYCP or similar youth-led initiatives, alongside a strong understanding of international migration processes and multi-stakeholder collaboration.

    Key Responsibilities

The Global Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the MYCP Secretariat, ensuring that internal systems and workflows run efficiently. This includes supervising project leads, supporting team coordination, and maintaining accountability across ongoing initiatives.

A significant aspect of the role involves external representation. The Coordinator serves as MYCP’s primary liaison with partners, donors, and UN stakeholders, helping to build strategic relationships and expand the platform’s global reach.

Fundraising and organisational development are also core responsibilities. The Coordinator identifies funding opportunities, develops grant proposals, and supports donor engagement efforts to sustain and grow MYCP’s work.

Additionally, the role requires close collaboration with the organisation’s Board, including preparing reports, providing updates, and contributing to governance processes. The Coordinator also oversees volunteer management, ensuring that team members are effectively recruited, supported, and engaged.

Strong documentation and reporting practices are essential, particularly for funder accountability and organisational transparency. The Coordinator ensures that all activities align with MYCP’s mission, values, and strategic goals.

    Required Qualifications

Applicants should demonstrate a strong understanding of global migration policy frameworks, particularly the Global Compact for Migration and the Global Forum on Migration and Development. Experience working with or alongside United Nations processes is highly desirable.

The role requires proven experience in team leadership, project coordination, and multi-stakeholder engagement. Candidates must possess excellent organisational and communication skills, along with fluency in English. Knowledge of additional UN languages is considered an advantage.

Proficiency in digital collaboration tools such as Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and shared document platforms is essential. The ability to work independently across multiple time zones, while maintaining a high level of responsibility and initiative, is critical for success in this role.

    Desirable Skills and Experience

While not mandatory, lived experience of migration or forced displacement is highly valued, as it contributes to a deeper understanding of the issues MYCP addresses.

Experience in fundraising, grant management, or organisational development is also beneficial. Candidates with backgrounds in youth-led, grassroots, or Global South initiatives are strongly encouraged to apply.

Strong intercultural communication skills and prior involvement with MYCP—particularly in leadership or coordination roles—will be considered an added advantage.

    Working Conditions

This is a full-time position requiring approximately 35–40 hours per week. The role offers flexibility in scheduling; however, the Global Coordinator must be available to attend meetings across different time zones, including engagements with UN agencies and international partners.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project needs and available resources, providing opportunities for in-person collaboration and participation in global forums.

    How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit a CV, a brief statement outlining their motivation and relevant experience, and any additional required details through the official application form. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with priority given to submissions received by April 12.

    Final Thoughts

The MYCP Global Coordinator role presents a significant opportunity for professionals passionate about youth empowerment, migration policy, and global development. By leading the Secretariat, the successful candidate will play a key role in advancing inclusive, youth-centered approaches to migration governance and ensuring that young voices continue to shape international policy conversations.
