Overview
The World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2026, themed “World Heritage, Communities and Education: Empowering Youth as Agents of Change,” will be held in the Republic of Korea from July 13-21, 2026. It aims to explore the roles of communities, youth, and education in heritage conservation and management, culminating in a Youth Declaration presented at the 48th World Heritage Committee session.
Key Responsibilities
- Explore the interconnected roles of communities, youth, and education in strengthening the protection, management, and transmission of World Heritage.
- Participate in expert-led sessions, workshops, group work, and field visits.
- Collaboratively present a Youth Declaration during the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee.
- Engage with site managers, experts, and local communities.
- Participate in site-based learning at World Heritage properties.
- Reflect on the responsibilities of current and future heritage professionals.
Requirements
- Age: Between 23 and 32 years old (born between 1994 and 2003 inclusive).
- Professional Profile: Engaged in education, World Heritage site management, heritage research/innovation, or NGO/community-based heritage initiatives.
- Demonstrated involvement in World Heritage-related activities.
- Strong motivation to contribute to discussions on youth, communities, and education.
- Full availability for the entire duration of the Forum (July 13-21, 2026).
- Proficiency in English.
- Selection will ensure balanced geographical representation, gender equality, professional diversity, and strong potential for knowledge-sharing.
