African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) is a leading diversified mining and minerals company operating in South Africa and Malaysia.

The company mines and processes iron ore, manganese ore, chrome ore, platinum group metals (PGMs), nickel, and coal, while also holding a strategic investment in Harmony Gold Mining Company.

ARM is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Accountant to join its ARM Ferrous (Assmang) division in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Purpose of the Role

The Financial Accountant will provide a comprehensive financial accounting, statutory reporting, and tax compliance function for ARM Ferrous (Assmang).

The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and timely delivery across all reporting cycles while supporting the ARM Ferrous finance team.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

• Assist with the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Prepare annual and interim financial reporting.
• Prepare Annual Financial Statements.
• Ensure accurate statutory financial reporting in line with reporting requirements.

Tax Compliance

• Maintain overall tax compliance for Assmang (Pty) Ltd and all subsidiary companies.
• Ensure compliance with the Assmang Group Tax Policy.
• Prepare tax computations and submit tax returns.

• Manage tax obligations including:
  • Mining Income Tax
  • Mining Royalty Tax
  • VAT
  • PAYE
  • Carbon Taxes
  • Other applicable South African taxes

Financial Governance

• Ensure adequate financial provision for environmental rehabilitation and mine closure through the Nature Conservation Trust.
• Maintain relationships with:
  • SARS
  • External auditors
  • Banks
  • Insurance providers
  • Tax specialists
• Coordinate and resolve all internal and external audit matters relating to ARM Ferrous.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should possess:

• BCom Degree in Accounting or Financial Management.
• CA (SA) qualification will be an added advantage.
• Proven experience in mining industry financial reporting and tax compliance.

• At least 5 years’ financial accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Extensive knowledge of South African tax legislation.
• Experience in operational financial management and group reporting.
