Overview

The organization is seeking an Agricultural Officer to support the implementation of agricultural and livelihoods activities aimed at improving food production and enhancing the resilience of vulnerable households in Yobe State.

Key Responsibilities

Support rehabilitation of irrigation systems, market gardens, and fish farming units.
Promote climate-resilient and sustainable farming techniques such as agroforestry, drip irrigation, and greenhouse farming.
Support fish farming development, including training on production and processing.
Organize training on soil management, pest control, and post-harvest handling.
Facilitate farmer and fish producer groups for improved coordination and market access.
Ensure distribution of agricultural inputs to vulnerable households.
Monitor agricultural project implementation and report progress.
Engage community leaders to align activities with local needs.
Support staff development and performance reviews.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, Agricultural Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years in food security, agriculture, or climate adaptation programmes.
Knowledge of climate-smart agriculture and sustainable farming systems.
Strong training and facilitation skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
English required; Hausa and/or Kanuri is an advantage.
