    Overview

    The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Field Officer is responsible for implementing and supporting mental health and psychosocial support activities in line with ICRC guidelines, focusing on providing direct support to individuals affected by conflict and violence.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Implement and follow up on MHPSS activities aligned with ICRC frameworks
    • Train and supervise Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) staff, volunteers, and partners
    • Support referral systems and follow-up for beneficiaries in need of psychosocial support
    • Develop and use culturally appropriate monitoring and evaluation tools
    • Maintain coordination with NRCS, health authorities, and partner organizations
    • Identify and train key community actors and health workers on mental health awareness and psychosocial support
    • Ensure effective referral pathways between communities and health facilities
    • Provide coaching and supervision to psychosocial support volunteers
    • Participate in supervision sessions and contribute to team learning and peer support

    Requirements

    • University degree in Clinical Psychology, Psychiatric Nursing, or related field
    • Valid professional license to practice
    • 3–5 years of professional experience in MHPSS programming
    • Minimum of 3 years in psychosocial support, clinical, or community mental health work
    • Experience in training and supervision
    • Humanitarian or Red Cross/Red Crescent experience is an advantage
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to work under pressure in challenging environments
    • Flexibility and adaptability to changing field conditions
    • Strong commitment to humanitarian values
    • Fluency in English and Hausa required; Kanuri is an advantage
