Overview
This position as Area Sales Manager (ASM) offers an opportunity to drive sales growth within the FMCG sector, managing distributor performance, expanding market reach, and executing sales strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve regional targets and business objectives.
- Manage and optimize distributor and retail networks for maximum coverage and product visibility.
- Lead, coach, and motivate Sales Officers and Sales Representatives to meet and exceed targets.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and consumer behavior to identify opportunities.
- Plan and execute trade promotions, activations, and sales campaigns.
- Ensure compliance with pricing policies, credit controls, and trade agreements.
- Prepare and present sales reports, forecasts, and performance insights.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Supply Chain teams to drive execution efficiency.
- Monitor distributor inventory levels and ensure timely replenishment.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, retailers, and key stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of FMCG sales experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Strong experience in distributor management and retail channel development.
- Solid understanding of sales operations and route-to-market strategies in Nigeria.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, analytical, and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools; experience with sales automation systems is an added advantage.
