Overview
This consultancy offers an opportunity to redesign and develop the African Disability Forum's website, focusing on accessibility, usability, and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Redesign homepage and navigation menus for clarity and inclusivity.
- Implement responsive, mobile-first design adaptable to older devices and low-bandwidth environments.
- Enhance accessibility features, including semantic HTML, ARIA attributes, and assistive technology compatibility.
- Improve multimedia accessibility with captions, transcripts, and alt text.
- Strengthen content organization for programs, news, and resources.
- Develop multilingual architecture supporting official languages.
- Optimize digital assets for faster loading and lower data consumption.
- Establish secure hosting, caching, and content delivery strategies.
- Build a dedicated SPADRA landing page embedded within the main site.
- Develop pages for news, project milestones, policy tracker, and partner engagement.
- Create a knowledge hub for policies, resources, and program updates.
- Enable seamless navigation between ADF, SPADRA, and other related platforms.
Requirements
- Proven experience in web design and development, especially inclusive and accessible websites.
- Demonstrated knowledge of WCAG 2.1 standards and accessibility testing tools.
- Technical expertise in responsive, mobile-first design and multimedia accessibility.
- Experience with multilingual website architecture and content management systems.
- Ability to deliver within tight timelines and support ongoing maintenance.
- Prior experience working with organizations in the disability or development sector is preferred.
