Overview
Axios Live transforms award-winning journalism into dynamic live events, offering editorial experiences that spark smart conversations across various fields. The role of Associate Director of Production involves managing technical execution, budget management, and vendor oversight for in-person and virtual events.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the technical production of Axios Live events, including A/V systems, staging, lighting, livestreaming, video playback, and on-site recording.
- Serve as stage manager and show-caller for real-time production cues and backstage operations.
- Oversee A/V production vendors, including sourcing, scoping, budgeting, contracting, and on-site management.
- Coordinate site-specific tech builds, rehearsals, and contingency plans for events on platforms like Zoom and Vimeo.
- Manage post-production editing workflows using Adobe Premiere Pro and deliver video assets to marketing/editorial teams.
- Own end-to-end production timelines, task tracking, and staffing schedules for simultaneous events.
- Manage event production budgets, tracking vendor estimates, spend actuals, and reconciliations.
- Collaborate with editorial, creative, and design teams to bring branded experiences to life.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to associates and freelancers in the production team.
- Support new production innovation by identifying technical opportunities to improve quality and scalability.
Requirements
- 5–7 years of experience in high-volume event production.
- Deep understanding of A/V production workflows, including livestreaming and event safety.
- Proven ability to manage production budgets line by line, including vendor estimates and invoices.
- Ability to build relationships with A/V and production vendors.
- High proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro; knowledge of After Effects and Photoshop is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience managing public-facing events under tight timelines.
- Familiarity with project management software is a plus.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours when required.
Benefits
The starting salary for this role is in the range of $98,000 - $130,000, depending on various factors including location and work experience.
Location
Remote within the United States, with a preference for Washington DC or the East Coast.
