Commercial Counsel @Brex

Overview

The role of Commercial Counsel at Brex involves supporting all aspects of the company's commercial legal efforts, including the review and negotiation of customer and vendor contracts. This position is an integral part of the Legal team, focusing on providing legal advice and collaborating with various internal departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate customer agreements from initial legal review through final signature, working with sales and deal desk.
• Support the legal review and negotiation of various commercial contracts including AI, SaaS, and other technology agreements.
• Drive improvements in contracting processes and collaborate with internal stakeholders to contextualize transactions.
• Provide business-oriented legal advice on contract terms and commercial legal risks.
• Identify and mitigate contractual risks, escalating complex issues as needed.
• Contribute to the development of commercial legal resources and processes.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience practicing commercial law in-house or at a reputable law firm.
• Jurisdictions: Juris Doctor (JD) and active bar membership in at least one US state.
• Experience with drafting and negotiating complex technology and commercial contracts.
• Exceptional judgment, attention to detail, and integrity.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to thrive in dynamic environments.
• Flexible and open to learning new skills.

Benefits

The expected salary range for this role is $220,000-$270,000 USD, with final pay depending on location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may include equity and other forms of compensation.

Brex offers a hybrid work environment, requiring a minimum of three days in the office per week, with up to four weeks of full remote work available each year.
