Job Summary
Crop Trust (The Global Crop Diversity Trust ) is seeking a highly motivated Communications Assistant to support the Global Flagship Initiative for Food Security.
The role involves managing communications, outreach, stakeholder engagement, event support, and digital content development to enhance visibility and impact of the initiative.
The position reports directly to the Secretary of the Global Flagship Initiative for Food Security.

The Crop Trust is an international organization dedicated to conserving crop diversity and ensuring its availability for global use.
The organization hosts the Global Flagship Initiative for Food Security, a coalition of approximately 120 development partners working to advance SDG 2 – Zero Hunger through collaboration, private sector mobilization, and impactful delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Communications and Content Development
- Draft, edit, and format communication materials such as news items, newsletters, briefing notes, and partner updates.
- Support social media content creation and maintain digital communication channels.
- Prepare outreach materials including presentations, flyers, and fact sheets.
- Assist with communication activities for international events and Flagship priorities.
- Ensure consistency and quality in messaging and visual identity.
Stakeholder Outreach and Engagement
- Maintain regular communication with governments, partners, civil society, universities, youth networks, and private sector stakeholders.
- Update contact lists, stakeholder tracking tools, and support outreach follow-up.
- Coordinate with related initiatives in food security, climate, biodiversity, and land restoration.
- Support partnership visibility activities and follow-up.
Event and Media Support
- Assist in organizing international conferences, webinars, workshops, and meetings.
- Prepare event materials, including background notes, agendas, and presentations.
- Support media monitoring, coverage compilation, and outreach materials.
Research and Knowledge Support
- Collect background information on communication trends and thematic developments.
- Prepare summaries, reports, and presentations for internal and external use.
- Maintain records of outreach activities and communication metrics.
Additional Tasks
- Liaise with External Affairs and Program teams for communication activities.
- Maintain organized files, media assets, and content repositories.
- Provide administrative support for communication and outreach activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies
Education
- Completion of secondary education; supplementary training or certification in communications, journalism, or related fields is desirable.
- A first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of some experience.
Work Experience
- Minimum of five years’ experience in communications, outreach, or related areas.
- Experience supporting communication in international organizations, NGOs, or multilateral settings is preferred.
- Digital communications, website content management, and social media experience are assets.
Language Skills
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of Arabic, French, or Spanish is desirable.
IT Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, content management systems, and basic design tools.
- Multimedia, graphic design, or video editing skills are advantageous.

Terms and Conditions
The position offers a competitive salary of EUR 40,643.40, including medical insurance and leave provisions.
The position is locally recruited, classified as Grade G2, with benefits paid in Euros.
The initial contract is for one year, with potential renewal, and includes a six-month probation period. Relocation costs are not covered.
