Overview
The Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW) will be responsible for delivering health education and awareness at the community level, while strengthening the connection between local communities and INTERSOS-supported health facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and report community-level data to the CHW Supervisor.
- Deliver health education and awareness messages on key health topics.
- Strengthen relationships between the community and INTERSOS-supported health services.
- Support community mobilization and participate in health awareness activities.
- Identify and engage local stakeholders for outreach programs.
- Assist in mapping community resources.
- Facilitate communication with local authorities.
- Support defaulter tracing activities for patient care continuity.
- Provide regular updates to the Supervisor on progress and challenges.
Requirements
- Diploma or Certificate in Community Health Extension Work (CHEW).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience, preferably in humanitarian or emergency settings.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet use).
- Strong communication and community engagement skills.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages such as Hausa and Kanuri is an added advantage.
