Overview

The Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW) will be responsible for delivering health education and awareness at the community level, while strengthening the connection between local communities and INTERSOS-supported health facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect and report community-level data to the CHW Supervisor.
• Deliver health education and awareness messages on key health topics.
• Strengthen relationships between the community and INTERSOS-supported health services.
• Support community mobilization and participate in health awareness activities.
• Identify and engage local stakeholders for outreach programs.
• Assist in mapping community resources.
• Facilitate communication with local authorities.
• Support defaulter tracing activities for patient care continuity.
• Provide regular updates to the Supervisor on progress and challenges.

Requirements

• Diploma or Certificate in Community Health Extension Work (CHEW).
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience, preferably in humanitarian or emergency settings.
• Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet use).
• Strong communication and community engagement skills.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages such as Hausa and Kanuri is an added advantage.
