Overview
Brex is seeking a Counsel for Employment to join their Legal team. This role involves providing legal support and guidance on employment matters affecting Brex's global workforce within a dynamic fintech environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide practical legal guidance to Brex’s People team on employment issues including performance management, terminations, and recruiting.
- Support policy development and implementation for governing employees and contingent workers.
- Manage employment-related complaints, disputes, and investigations.
- Oversee outside legal counsel for employment matters.
- Identify employment-related risks and recommend solutions for management.
- Research employment laws applicable in various locations, including international offices.
- Assist in developing and delivering employment-related training.
- Handle subpoenas and personnel records requests as needed.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in employment law at a law firm or in-house legal department.
- Experience partnering with People/HR functions as a legal advisor.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects.
- Problem-solving mindset with adaptability to fast-paced environments.
- Team player with exceptional communication skills.
- Juris Doctor (JD) and active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state.
