Overview
Brex is the intelligent finance platform that enables companies to spend smarter and move faster in over 200 markets. The role of Counsel, Employment, involves providing legal guidance on employment matters affecting Brex’s global workforce, supporting a dynamic, high-growth fintech company.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal guidance to Brex’s People team on employment issues including performance management, terminations, and recruitment.
- Support the development of policies and practices governing Brex employees and contingent workers.
- Assist in managing employment-related complaints, litigation, and regulatory inquiries.
- Manage outside legal counsel on employment matters to ensure efficiency and value.
- Identify risks related to employment and recommend practical solutions.
- Research employment-related laws applicable to Brex employees and contingent workers in various locations.
- Support the development and delivery of employment-related training to managers and employees.
- Assist with responses to subpoenas and personnel records requests.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in employment law matters, either at a law firm or in-house.
- Experience partnering with People / HR functions as a legal advisor.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to navigate a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative team player with effective communication skills.
- Juris Doctor (JD) and active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state.
