Overview

The African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) is inviting applications for the position of Economist – Youth Employment and Skills (YES), offering professionals the opportunity to contribute to research and policy initiatives aimed at transforming Africa’s economies and improving employment outcomes for young people.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct research and analytical work on economic issues affecting youth employment, education systems, and labor markets across Africa.
Gather and analyze datasets, develop research databases, and support data-driven policy analysis.
Prepare reports, research publications, and presentations to communicate findings to policymakers, governments, and development partners.
Support collaborative research initiatives and contribute technical expertise to projects within the YES program.
Represent ACET in policy discussions, conferences, and with stakeholders on economic transformation and youth development.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Economics or Statistics, preferably with specialization in labor economics, development economics, macroeconomics, or education policy.
At least five years of relevant professional experience in research or policy analysis related to labor markets, education systems, or economic development.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including experience with statistical and econometric analysis.
Proficiency in analytical tools such as STATA, EViews, R, or SAS, along with knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex research findings into accessible insights.
Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French is an advantage.
