    Overview

    The African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) is inviting applications for the position of Economist – Youth Employment and Skills (YES), offering professionals the opportunity to contribute to research and policy initiatives aimed at transforming Africa’s economies and improving employment outcomes for young people.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct research and analytical work on economic issues affecting youth employment, education systems, and labor markets across Africa.
    • Gather and analyze datasets, develop research databases, and support data-driven policy analysis.
    • Prepare reports, research publications, and presentations to communicate findings to policymakers, governments, and development partners.
    • Support collaborative research initiatives and contribute technical expertise to projects within the YES program.
    • Represent ACET in policy discussions, conferences, and with stakeholders on economic transformation and youth development.

    Requirements

    • Master’s degree in Economics or Statistics, preferably with specialization in labor economics, development economics, macroeconomics, or education policy.
    • At least five years of relevant professional experience in research or policy analysis related to labor markets, education systems, or economic development.
    • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including experience with statistical and econometric analysis.
    • Proficiency in analytical tools such as STATA, EViews, R, or SAS, along with knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex research findings into accessible insights.
    • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French is an advantage.
