Overview

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is seeking a Field Security Assistant to support security operations in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. This is a 12-month non-staff opportunity with a possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities

Respond to staff security emergencies and organize immediate assistance.
Support compliance with United Nations security policies and procedures.
Monitor and report on the daily security situation and provide briefings.
Disseminate security advisories to staff in a timely manner.
Conduct security assessments and coordinate with host government security authorities and UNDSS.
Maintain and update security plans, staff movement records, and contingency arrangements.
Provide security briefings and support security clearances for staff.
Support convoy planning, field mission security arrangements, and enforce compliance with Security Risk Management and Standard Operating Procedures.
Prepare Security Risk Assessments and support the implementation of Security Risk Management measures, Area Security Plans, and contingency plans.

Requirements

University degree in risk or emergency management, social or political science, military science, public administration, law enforcement, law, or a related field.
Minimum of two years relevant experience in police, armed forces, private security, or security services of a large organization.
Working knowledge of English (Level C).
Must be a national of Nigeria.
