    Job Overview

    Finance for Biodiversity is seeking a dedicated Research Associate to support initiatives at the intersection of finance and biodiversity.

    This role involves contributing to projects that help financial institutions halt and reverse nature loss, working remotely within EU/UK time zones.

    The ideal candidate will bring expertise in environmental sciences and finance, with a passion for sustainability and nature recovery.

    About the Role

    The Research Associate will be an integral part of the Finance for Biodiversity Foundation team, supporting key groups such as the Engagement with Companies working group, Nature Action 100 Technical Advisory Group, Science Council, and the FABRIC investor engagement initiative.

    The role involves conducting research, developing technical materials, and assisting in stakeholder engagement activities aimed at promoting sustainable finance practices that protect biodiversity.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide technical support, research, and project management assistance for various stakeholder groups
    • Develop analyses, sector-specific research, and technical materials related to biodiversity and finance

    • Stay updated on emerging frameworks, methodologies, tools, and datasets concerning nature stewardship
    • Support and organize meetings of the working groups, investor engagement initiatives, and advisory groups

    Skills and Experience

    Essential Skills

    • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a remote team
    • Structured, results-driven, and detail-oriented with a proactive attitude
    • Strong understanding of the relationship between biodiversity and the finance sector

    • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
    • 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience
    • Passion for sustainability and nature recovery initiatives

    Desirable Skills

    • Experience working within the finance sector or with investment stewardship activities
    • Familiarity with biodiversity landscape, key stakeholders, and nature-based solutions
    • Currently pursuing or holding a master’s degree in an environmental or related field

    Contract Details

    The position offers a fixed-term one-year contract with the possibility of renewal.

    The salary ranges from €45,000 to €55,000 annually, localized based on cost of living.

    The role is fully remote, with flexibility to work full-time or a four-day week.
